Scripture and Meditation Reading: Joshua
24: 5; Deuteronomy 30:14-20
Dear Beloved:
How satisfied are you with the decisions and choices that you have
made in your life?
Many of us want to blame Satan for poor choices. Remember Satan can
only wiggle his way into your life or affairs by the permission you
allocate to him.
God has equipped each one of us with “free will.” Therefore, it is
with through the volition of our wills that we make our decisions
and choose the paths we trod. If per chance you veer off onto the
wrong path, dust yourself off and get back on the right road!
There’s a whole host of people that are in the Grandstand cheering
you on to victory ( Heb.12:1-2 ). Be assured that God does give us
rules to follow, but rather He has a standard that we must commit to
and obey. If we are Children of God we begin to imitate His
characteristics.
One good barometer for us to evaluate and assess where we are
spiritually is the method we use to make choices. We make many
choices each day that are spiritual, physical, and financial.
Nevertheless most of the choices that we make have no right or wrong
attached to them—such as what we wear or what we eat. Some
decisions become “defining moment” for the rest of our lives..
The question is how can we make decisions that will keep us and
others around us from engaging into wrong activities (Amos 3:3)?
Good methods to determine if we’re making reckless or wholesome
choices is by examining our decisions in the light of God’s Word
(Ps.119: 130). What a wonderful world this would be if Christians
made their choices in the Light of the Word of God!!!
Measure your decisions by some of the following:
Does it help me do
my best (I Cor.9: 25)?
Am I motivated by a desire to help others to know Christ (I Cor.
10:33)?
Is it against the Word of God (I Cor. 10:12)?
Am I acting lovingly or selfishly? Does it glorify God (I Cor.10:
30)?
Will it cause someone else to stumble (I Cor. 10:32)?
God expects each of us to make choices that lead to life and not
death. Before plunging into any decision or relationship, it is
wise to consult God’s Word (Prov. 3:5-8). Learn to be patient
expecting god to act on your behalf ( Ps.27:14, Isa.40:31).
Remember correct decisions and choices will always be made using the
Word as our roadmap (Ps. 119:130).
